Sponsorship
A highly sustainable form of support is the sponsor. This sponsorship will help to cover the healthcare, educational and life costs for a child and allow him to have a self-determined future. The cost for one child at Mercy Home amounts to roughly € 45 / £36 a month. Your sponsorship does not have to stick to this figure – it can be larger or smaller depending on your preferences. Although the sponsorship is awarded to a particular child, it is used to benefit all children where possible.
Daily needs
The daily needs of the home are considerable. Three times a day it needs to feed the hungry stomachs of 300 people, provide medical care for 170 patients, secure the school fees for 110 school children and cover the basic expenses for the entire institution. Although the costs are kept as low as possible, these amounts do add up each month and Mercy Home faces considerable challenges. A few examples of costs:
Buying a blanket Rs 350 / € 5.50
Buying a mattress Rs 2400 / € 36
Cost for one child per month Rs 3000 / € 45
Mercy Home for all food per day Rs 8000 / € 120
Total cost of running Mercy Home per day Rs 12,000 / € 185
Medical care costs at Mercy Home per month Rs 18,000 / € 270
Total cost of Mercy Home each month Rs 350,000 / € 5,400
Maintenance and small investments
The living conditions in Mercy Home are modest. We strive to keep the existing infrastructure in good condition and living conditions have to improve bit by bit. Currently, Mercy Home requires the following small and medium sized investments:
Repair of the two ambulance jeeps and a passenger car
Space for patient care and pharmacy
Plant for sewage treatment
Solar heating for hot water
Construction of a cowshed
Construction of premises for vehicles and for training purposes
Roofing the flat roof on the Girl's House
Buying a new school bus
Long-term development and greater investment
The following investments will allow the long-term development of Mercy Home:
The purchase of a piece of adjacent land
Construction of a boys' home
Structuring of the dairy and livestock
Construction of the first floor of the lady’s house
